5 Tips for Clean Commercial Windows

Plus Why Clean Windows Impact Professionalism

Your windows and their appearance are part of the first impression visitors have of your business. Keeping them clean and streak-free is important to your professional image. But window cleaning can be quite a task, especially for a larger commercial building. Here are our tips for keeping your commercial windows clean and ready for visitors.

1 | Keep a Schedule

Daily and weekly cleaning is key to a professional business image. Windows that see a lot of traffic, such as glass doors, will need daily cleaning. Other less touched windows should see weekly cleaning to keep them from getting a buildup of dust and grime. You should also have all of your windows professionally washed at least once a year. In cooler climates, this is usually done in the spring and fall. In warmer climates, windows can be professionally cleaned quarterly or monthly.

2 | Cleaning White Water Spots

An acid-based cleaner can remove stubborn hard water spots that are caused by landscape sprinkler systems. To keep your windows from getting this buildup in the first place, have your landscaper adjust your sprinklers so they aren’t over-spraying onto your building.

3 | Use the Right Stuff

Using the right cleaning solution and tools for the job can help keep windows sparkling clean! Use a glass cleaner or mix your solution with a few drops of Dawn dishwashing liquid and distilled water. On humid days, add in a little isopropyl alcohol to help the windows dry faster and avoid streaking. Use a professional squeegee and wipe the blade with a natural sponge after each stroke to extend its life. Then replace the blade when it is no longer cleaning well, just like your car’s wiper blades!

4 | Don’t Forget to Dust First

Before washing your windows, it’s always a good idea to remove any cobwebs and loose dirt. If you don’t, you’ll just be spreading the dirt and grime around your window with the water solution, causing a film or streaking to appear on your window. Simply use a vacuum attachment to go around your window casing to pick up any dirt, cobwebs, or dust.

5 | Hire a Commercial Cleaner

Cleaning your windows is a task that takes precious time out of your day and resources from your budget to get all the right tools and cleaning solutions. Instead, invest in hiring a commercial cleaning service! They already have the right equipment, cleaning solutions, and trained employees, making a commercial cleaner a more economical choice in the long run. Plus, hiring them means more time for you and your employees to get down to business!
